SACNAS' sponsors and partners contribute significantly to advancing science achievement in minority communities.
One of the principal impacts that SACNAS sponsors have is to support aspiring scientists and science educators from
throughout the U.S. in attending what is often their first scientific meeting. In addition to the broad professional
opportunities available at SACNAS, the welcoming environment with a focus balanced on personalized mentoring, superior
science, and cultural relevance can make a profound and lasting difference in the career development of underrepresented
minority scientists. The generosity of conference travel scholarships sponsors—including the National Institute of
Health, the National Science Foundation, and many others—is directly responsible for advancing the SACNAS mission.
General conference sponsors allow SACNAS to enhance the conference program beyond what would otherwise be possible—
offering networking receptions, student research presentation recognitions, off-site fieldtrips, and three meals a day to
all conference participants. Sharing meals together provides a unique and culturally-significant opportunity for informal
networking between student and professional attendees. Meals also serve to showcase role model keynote speakers and cultural
entertainment, such as Native American hoop dancing, Native Hawaiian musical and dance performances, traditional folclórico
dances of Mexico, and Mariachi groups.
Sponsorship funding also contributes to the society's year-long programs including Chapters
at campuses across the nation, the SACNAS News publication, the
Minority Postdoc virtual community, and leadership development initiatives.
Your support of SACNAS allows students underrepresented in the sciences to participate in a mentoring-intensive and rigorously-scientific
community that embodies and celebrates their cultures. The result is better science and stronger communities.
