Conference Travel and Lodging Caution
SACNAS’ privacy policy ensures that SACNAS does not sell or distribute our members’, participants’, or
affiliates’ contact information to others. SACNAS employs office practices and website precautions to protect
the privacy of our community. SACNAS and our legal council have taken necessary steps to address the concern
outlined below.
Travel Group(s) Employing Deceptive Practices
SACNAS has learned that a travel company has contacted SACNAS affiliates and exhibitors in the past, posing
as “SACNAS’ housing bureau” for the national conference. Please note, SACNAS does NOT have a housing
bureau for the conference.
SACNAS encourages participants to book travel and hotel reservations with our officially contracted partners, which are listed on
the Travel and Lodging homepage. If you have been contacted by an outside company regarding making a hotel
reservations, suggesting that the SACNAS hotels are nearly or completely sold out, and/or suggesting that you make reservations in
other nearby hotels with which SACNAS does not have a contract, we ask that you please send an email with dates and details to the
SACNAS conference manager.
Booking Hotel Rooms for the 2010 SACNAS National Conference
All hotel reservations for the 2010 SACNAS National Conference—except for individuals for whom SACNAS will be making
travel and lodging arrangements (including travel scholarship recipients and sponsored speakers)—should be made directly with the
SACNAS call-in hotel where we have reserved a large block of rooms: the
Anaheim Marriot.
Reservation numbers and additional information for the hotel can be found on the SACNAS
Travel and Lodging homepage.
There are plenty of rooms available in SACNAS’ room block. In order to reserve a room at the discounted SACNAS rate,
you must mention SACNAS when you make the reservation. Hotel reservations made at another hotel and/or through an outside travel agent
or housing bureau that does not contract with SACNAS is mentioned during the reservation process, will not be at the SACNAS discounted
rate and will not count toward SACNAS’ room block at the hotel. As a result, if our entire room block is not reserved,
SACNAS will face a significant financial penalty with the hotel.
Making Travel Arrangements for the 2010 SACNAS National Conference
Participants in the 2010 SACNAS National Conference requiring assistance with air or ground travel, please feel free to contact
SACNAS’ official travel agency, Cain Travel. Mention SACNAS to take advantage of our
discounted group fares and help SACNAS earn tickets for student travel scholarship recipients.
